Can you help me better understand the Third Commandment?

Remember to keep holy the Lord’s Day.

The Third Commandment establishes the Sabbath Day as a holy day dedicated to the praise of God, which serves to commemorate both the act of creation and the liberation of Israel from bondage (CCC 2170-2171). This law is rooted in the theological significance of God’s own action on the seventh day, which provides a model for human behavior by prioritizing rest and refreshment over a life of servitude to money and work (CCC 2172). Jesus Christ provides the authentic interpretation of this law, teaching that the Sabbath is intended for the purpose of saving life and doing good, rather than for causing harm. (CCC 2173).
