Help me understand, what is The Resurrection?

The Resurrection is the event in which Jesus Christ rises from the dead. This event is central to the New Testament’s understanding of the glorification of Jesus (1 Co 15:3-4) and is a pivotal part of the process through which heaven and earth are reconciled, alongside the Cross and the Ascension (CCC 2795).

The power to rise from the dead is a manifestation of Jesus’ divine authority and His unique relationship with the Father. As the Son of God, Jesus possesses the specific power to both lay down and take up His life (John 10:30), affirming His divinity.

The Resurrection is intrinsically linked to the sacrament of Baptism. Through this sacrament, the believer is buried into the death of Christ and rises again by resurrection with him, a process that transforms the individual into a new creature (CCC 1214).

Liturgically, the Eucharist itself serves as a memorial of Christ’s Passion and Resurrection, making the one sacrifice of Christ the Savior present (CCC 1330). Furthermore, receiving the Eucharist daily allows Christ to rise anew within the believer, effectively making every day a “today” (CCC 2837).
